Jill McGraw Lindeman first opened Mather Playschool in 1993, as a family child care home. Before that, she graduated from Penn State with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration, and then worked as a restaurant manager for seven years. When her son Matt was born, she really missed being with him, and wanted to find a way to spend more time with him.
So, she went back to college to take early childhood education courses, so she could provide an excellent early childhood education program in her family child care home. In her eight years in family child care, she completed course work and internships to become a credentialed early childhood education program director. Jill opened Mather Playschool as a Child Care Center in 2001. She chose to create a nonprofit corporation, Rosemont Playschool, Inc., with a parent board of directors to administer the center, in order to keep children’s needs and interests more important than bottom-line profits. We changed the center’s name to Mather Playschool in 2007, when we moved to our current location.
Our Mission and Philosophy;
Mather Playschool Child Care Center’s staff and curriculum encourage children to develop into independent, self-motivated learners, while supporting families in developing solid parenting skills.
Mather Playschool provides developmentally appropriate, active-learning education for young children, with special care taken to enable children to experience the comforts of home in their environment.
Our staffing plan encourages the development of strong bonds between children and their teachers.
Our curriculum is planned to support children in acquiring the necessary life experiences and skills to provide a solid foundation for elementary school and beyond.
Our arts programs foster children’s developing creativity and a life-long appreciation for artistic expression.
Our discipline philosophy teaches self-control and self-esteem to the children, so that they will know how to behave at school and in other environments.
